UPDATE: Bids for Basement de-watering and repair project are still more than the grant budget has set aside for this phase of the project. CFTF Construction Oversight Team will discuss the project scope to find ways to stay in line with the budget.

UPDATE: Repair for North wall to begin. Heikes Masonry began power washing the north wall of the theatre. The next step in this project will be chasing and patching the larger cracks followed by a coating of elastomeric paint.

UPDATE: Kansas State Department of Health approves asbestos removal method. Prior to beginning asbestos removal, contractors must submit the scope of the project and their proposed method of removal and disposal to the State's Dept of Health.

UPDATE: Received U.S. National Parks Service and Kansas State Historic Society approval to sign contracts with ACM Removal and Gerken Environmental for Asbestos and Mold Removal.

UPDATE: A mandatory pre-bid conference for Asbestos Project will be held on March 22, 2011. Contractors interested in bidding on the Asbestos Abatement and Mold Removal Project were required to attend a conference to review the scope of the project. Architect for the project is Wm. Morries Associates of Augusta. Professional consultants on the project are Precision Environmental Services of Wichita.

UPDATE: The Advertisement for Bids for the Colonial Fox Theatre Phase IV waterproofing of the Basements project sent to the Morning Sun newspaper for publication on Saturday March 12, 2011 and Tuesday, March 15, 2011.

UPDATE: Received the go-ahead to invite bids on the basement project.  The invitation to bid will go out March 11, 2011, with a published bid closing date of April 14, 2011. This timing will intentionally allow for the contractors to attend the March 29, 2011 training workshop and still have two weeks to work up their bids using this reinforcement system as an alternative to using steel reinforcement.

UPDATE: We received approval from the National Parks Service grant reviewer to go out for bids on the Asbestos Abatement project and to sign the contract for the North Wall project.   The invitation to bid on the former will be published starting either today or tomorrow.   The bids will close on March 29.
